Dividing into squares, quality, or crosses is the second way of distinguishing the energy of the zodiac signs after trigons. One quality includes signs 90 degrees apart (quadrature). This is a tension aspect that requires us to be active and fight our limitations and patterns. Quadratures are a big challenge. At the same time, thanks to squares in personal horoscopes or transits, we can work through our life lessons.
Are we saying “cosmogram” or “Horoscope”? When and how do we distinguish these concepts? It’s basically the same thing. I try to write and say “cosmogram”, when I mean” naked “chart of planets; and” horoscope”, when this cosmogram is already interpreted to some extent, when something has already been told about the person, event, or more generally, about the moment of time presented on the cosmogram as the distribution of planets.
The strong cast of a given Square greatly influences who we are and determines our character traits and energy. We distinguish Cardinal, constant and variable quality.
Cardinal Square – Aries, Cancer, scales, Capricorn.
Cardinal signs are signs starting seasons. They are ambitious personalities who can take command and initiative. They feel the need to be successful and have big ambitions. They act spontaneously, they can take chances successfully. Cardinal characters have clearly crystallized life goals, but not all of them achieve them. They can seem dominant. Constants are characterized by determination and constancy in aspirations and views. Their reign falls into the middle period of the season. They like to keep things tight. Change can be a problem for them and they approach it with reserve. They are very focused and engaging in everything. Nevertheless, they tend to plan and prefer to achieve something with small steps, but consistently. In the negative, they can be stubborn, self-centered and difficult to work with. At the same time, they prefer to face their own problems.
Square Changeling – Twins, Virgo, Sagittarius, fish.
This square is characterized by variability and flexibility. They adapt easily to new situations. Others find it hard to keep up with them. They are often caught between contradictions, they are unstable. They work based on their intuition and subjective feelings. They are reluctant to face life problems and need support from loved ones. They are intelligent and versatile. Their duality may explain the fact that all but the Maiden are dual characters.
The cosmogram is shaped like a circle (although in pre – modern times they were also drawn as rectangles; we do not deal with this) – and is an image of the ecliptic, or plane in space, where the planets circle The Sun and the Moon Circle the Earth. (Strictly speaking, planets deviate from this plane, but this fact is overlooked for now.) If the whole sky is represented as the surface of the sphere or sphere – the celestial sphere (this is done on the globes of the sky or in planetariums) – then the ecliptic will be the Great Circle on this sphere, that is, the circle which divides the sphere into two equal halves.
